Justification

The University of Quintana Roo, through the Language Teaching Center, aims to contribute to the teaching and learning of languages for foreign students through the introduction of a different language program that includes language and culture in the Learning of Spanish as a Foreign Language (ELE). It is focused on obtaining a useful tool, which will be useful to use the language in a social atmosphere and in the academic field, as well as helping, to activate knowledge in their social environment. Likewise, it is intended that the students develop communicative strategies that allow them to communicative in the Mexican context so as identify the Mexican culture.
Among other things, this course will foster values such as respect for culture and linguistic diversity, ethics, self- assessment, professional efficiency that each one will accomplish when interacting with the teacher, with their peers in the classroom and with other people inside or outside the school.
Objective

The students will develop a linguistic and communicative competence that allows them use the Spanish language in everyday situations. All this through the learning of the elements that the introductory level requires, which include the four skills of the language and the sub skills: listening, reading, writing and speaking, as well as, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation; along with Mexican culture.
This course has a communicative approach, in which work is carried out to develop the oral production for which the practices in the textbook as well as additional material by the teacher will be used. The practice of the skills and sub skills such as pronunciation, intonation and oral production is continuous. Students will not be allowed to express themselves in their mother tongue in class, unless it is necessary. The listening skill will be developed through the audio exercises of the course and other sources such as the Internet, short stories and songs, and during the class, since they will listen to the class almost entirely in Spanish.

The teacher will assign writing assignments in class and for homework to correct in the class and outside to encourage self-correction in students.

The study of grammar will be carried out through explanation, followed by oral exercises and written exercises in which the function in the sentence is clear and clearly indicated.
