Established in 1946, the University of Mindanao has become one of the leading institutions in the Philippines championing in the primary thrusts in education specifically instruction and research.

As the largest non-sectarian academic institution in Mindanao, it caters to a total population of 41, 500 in its 10 campuses throughout the region. This number is brought about by the many recognitions and accolades the University has attained over the years.                                              

In fact, it is currently recognized as the University with the second highest accredited University in the country by the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA). On top of its soaring results in National Licensure Examinations, it has also sustained to produce topnotchers in various programs including Architecture, Education, Engineering, and Social Work. Furthermore, its research thrust has been evident through innovative research
engagements, commissioned research activities, and other related endeavors.

All these are the manifestations of the quality education the University provides that is indeed on par internationally.

◆Program Information


This course is primarily designed to let exchange students develop their understanding of the many cultures in Asia particularly Mindanao and the Philippines. In spite of its rich flora and fauna and colorful culture, Mindanao has only been known by the many crises it has faced over the years. More than the aforesaid, Mindanao is home to various peoples and cultures. Thus, this short-term program shall give a wider perspective of the real Mindanaon culture through understanding the people’s Dances and the Culinary Arts. Through these topics, students will have an in-depth perspective of Mindanao beyond its arts and culture reflecting even more the underlying issues including politics and the society in general.
This program is specifically aimed at:
a.) Enriching the cultural understanding of students particularly the Mindanaon Culture;
b.) Bridging cultural differences among peoples and cultures;
c.) Discuss the Mindanaon Dances and Culinary Arts; d.) Experience Mindanaon Culture through site visits and other engaging activities.
