Hanyang University is Korea’s first engineering school (established in 1939) and is well known for our various engineering programs. In fact, historically, Hanyang alumni are famous for their tremendous contributions to Korea’s modernization, and the university ranks 2nd nationally for producing top executives at Korea’s top 30 major companies. For instance, the CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, the president of Samsung Electronics, the former vice-chairman of LG Electronics, and former president of Hyundai Engineering & Construction are all graduates of Hanyang University. Hanyang Engineering College is also nationally ranked 1st in Technology Transfer and 1st for the number of Patent Applications in 2012.

In terms of internationalization, Hanyang ranks 1st among all Korean universities in the area of ‘International Outlook’ in the Times Higher Education University Rankings 2014-2015. Hanyang has the largest international student population (approximately 6,000) with students from around the world studying in our various short to long term programs.

Hanyang International Sumer School (HISS) ;

Hanyang International Sumer School (HISS) was first established in 1990 as a means to encourage more international exchanges between Hanyang and its partner universities. Every year, HISS offers more than 100 courses that are all fully taught in English to international students from around the globe. In this 4-week program, students can follow up to 3 courses, each of 3 credits with 45 contact hours. In the program, there are a wide-range of courses from which to choose from including Korean Studies, Humanities, Business, Economics, International Relations, Media & Communication, Design, Science, Sports, and Korean language. International students can also experience aspects of Korean culture by participating in various field trips, excursions and cultural programs. Every year HISS is becoming increasingly popular among international students visiting Korea, and we hope you will be one of them too!

- Academic Excellence: All courses are taught in English by renowned educators invited from prominent institutions abroad and from Hanyang University. HISS offers a wide-range of courses including Business, Economics, International Relations, Media & Communication, Design, Science, and Engineering

Students have to submit a certificate of international student or traveller insurance. If not, they should purchase an insurance upon arrival, which will cost them around KRW 20,000 to 40,000 depending on the details of students.
·Assistance for Visa Application
It is the student’s responsibility to be issued the correct type of Visa in advance at the Korean Embassy or Consulate Office. Nationals of countries or regions where Korea has signed a Visa waiver agreement may enter Korea without a Visa. However, students from countries which are excluded from the Visa waiver agreement program must apply for a short-term study visa (D-2-8) on their own. Obtaining a Visa may be time-consuming and therefore we encourage students to start preparing for it as early as possible. Visa application must be proceeded in the country where student’s home university is located.

- Certificate of Business Registration: will be sent by email upon request.
